Dr. Panuwat Janpugdee, Dr. Prabhakar Pathak and Dr. Robert J. Burkholder received a best paper award at the International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (ISAP) held in Bangkok, Thailand, October 20-23, 2009. Introduction to Current Research at ESL Gets Students Interested in Engineering

In an effort to help get more high school students interested in engineering, ESL faculty and graduate students recently participated in Metro High School’s career shadowing day by hosting a group of high school students at the ElectroScience Laboratory. During the hour-long tour organized by Professor Jin-Fa Lee, students were introduced to real-life research projects that are currently in process at ESL and a bit about the science behind those projects. Students were able to learn more about computational simulation of electromagnetic problems and ESL’s radar studies. Justin Kasemodel Receives IEEE AP-S Doctoral Research Award, Wins Antenna Applications Symposium’s Student Paper Contest

Justin Kasemodel, a doctoral student in the Ohio State Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a graduate research assistant at the ElectroScience Laboratory, was selected to receive an IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Doctoral Research Award and won the Antenna Application Symposium’s student paper contest. Kasemodel earned both honors for his research, which aims to create a new, smaller antenna array design paradigm that will enable the creation of smaller, cheaper and more powerful devices capable of communicating with multiple satellites over greater distances.
