  Research Summary
Robert Burkholder

Education

Bob Burkholder received his BSEE in 1984, his MSEE in 1985 and his Ph.D. in 1989, all from the Ohio State University. He has since worked at the ElectroScience Laboratory where he is currently a Research Scientist and Adjunct Associate Professor. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Full Member of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI), Commission B. He is also a member of the American Geophysical Union and the Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society. Currently Dr. Burkholder is serving as Associate Editor for IEEE Antennas and Propagation Letters.

Research Interests

Dr. Burkholder's research interests are primarily in mathematical and numerical modeling of electromagnetic wave interactions and antennas. He has developed techniques based on asymptotic theory and numerical methods for solving large-scale electromagnetic radiation and scattering problems. Applications include electromagnetic scattering, radar cross section analysis, radar imaging of buildings, remote sensing of targets in the presence of rough surfaces, and RFID reader antenna systems.
