University fellowships are very competitive since they are awarded from a pool of the entire College of Engineering. The submission of candidates for these fellowships is done by the Electrical Engineering faculty and decisions are made in early March. Students are selected based on: 1) academic records, 2) letters of recommendation, 3) statement of purpose, 4) GRE scores, and 5) potential to be successful in a graduate program. Both International and U.S. students are equally eligible for awards. As a recipient of the fellowship, the student will receive a monthly stipend in addition to a tuition waiver and health insurance subsidy. Please see the Graduate School Website for more information about these opportunities.
The Lab has about 10 externally sponsored fellowships, most of which are awarded to incoming students. The entire pool of applicants is considered for these fellowships subject to faculty and fellowship sponsored interests. Decisions on these fellowships are done towards the end of March by the Laboratory faculty and research scientists. U.S. students and residents are typically considered for these awards. If you would like additional information about these fellowships, please click here (pdf) to see the ESL Fellowships Flyer.
Below is a short list of Externally Managed Fellowships which specialize in the Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetic, and ElectroScience Fields. For questions concerning these Fellowships, please contact the sponsor directly.
