Hi! I'm Andrew Duly and I'm an undergraduate here at the ElectroScience Lab. We're out back here at ESL where they do a lot of the outdoor testing and range experiments.
1. Why did you join ESL?
Part of the reason why I joined the ElectroScience Lab as an undergraduate is because I knew I wanted to continue my studies after graduation. What better chance to get a feel for what it is like to perform research at a nationally acclaimed research laboratory than to connect with a professor here while also taking undergraduate classes. Today, I have enjoyed my time here and aspire to attend graduate school after graduation. I am currently applying to schools right now in hopes of performing research as a graduate student.
2. What do you like most about being part of ESL?
Here at the ElectroScience Lab, I really appreciate the emphasis they have on both experimental and theoretical results. With all the projects that I’ve been involved with thus far, the theoretical models and predictions have always been complemented and supported by our experimental results. The environment here is also conducive to learning. With all the research faculty here and the students here, there are always people to answer questions. Everyone is extremely open to communicating and sharing ideas.
3. What is it like being an undergraduate at ESL?
As an undergraduate, I step inside this building with a lot to learn. Everyday, I'm challenged with the knowledge I already know and also driven to learn more about my research projects and a lot of the topics going on here. I'm surrounded by extremely intelligent individuals and although sometimes, this may be a daunting task, I use it as a springboard to accelerate my academic development.
